Types of online business

Filed under: Internet Business — Alexia V @ 3:19 am

When talking about bringing or having your business online, the first thing in your mind is to make money from it. Make money and more profit from online is the key thing that you wanna have an online business. And eventually this business will make you one of the richest or at least brings you towards the financially independent state one day.

If you’re a newbie, you may have no clear direction what you should be headed to and what type of online business that you should do in order to achieve the goal in your mind- making money from online with minimal cost. I hereby list down the 4 types of online business and with each I’ve given here the reason or the situation that could be what you’re in at the moment, so you’ll know which type is the most suitable type for you.

1. Online Web Store – Building an online store. There could be two types of person who wanna setup an online store. The first type is you already have a local or offline store, which is providing services or selling products to your local customers e.g. you’re selling fishing rods in the town you live, and you’ve been stocking up those fishing rods. In this situation, opening an online will normally cost you a small investment that centers around yearly domain name renewal fee, yearly web hosting fee, and the initial setup, web design and maintenance charges. All these could be just in terms of couple hundreds of US dollars.

The other type is you do not have an offline or a local store yet, but what your intention is to straightaway get online and make money from it by selling some products online. Setting up this kind of online business will need you to folk out big budget, as you will need to buy and stock your products. Unless, you’ve been given big budget or you have ways to loan it from the bank, then you’d be able to setup another Amazon.com. But the risk is kinda high. If you’re just an ordinary man, after counting the budget that you need for stocking up some products and other costs for online services, you’d have given up half way before you start.

2. Online Niche Web Store – Lets put it this way. You could be the third type of person, which you do not have a business yet or you’re one of those overly busy but stressful corporate climbers, who works stressfully days and nights, rushing for deadlines for your bosses. You wish that one day you could have your own business, or perhaps one that is generating some passive income which lets you have more piece of mind in life. But you do not have any big budget to stock up products to sell online and you do not have enough saving to quit your day job and be full time into your Internet business venture, but you wish to make money online. So, what you could do is to build a niche store, tapping into so-called affiliate marketing, writing articles and promote others’ products and you’ll get commissions from them.

Building an online niche store may only take you a couple of more hours in a week for you to research and write articles for products others have and when a visitor comes to your niche store and commits and buys the product, you’ll get paid for the commission. Example of middlemen or stores that do offer commissions to affiliates are Amazon.com, eBay.com, CJ.com, ClickBank.com. I’ll have a dedicated blog post on how you can build a niche affiliate store by selling niche products and earn commissions that will likely bring you more than USD 1,000 a month.

3. Building a niche blog – Building a niche blog is more or less similar to building a niche store. What you do is you may have to keep blogging on certain topics and eventually make your blog profitable from online advertisement networks such Google Adsense, Chitika and many more. Building a niche blog will need you to spend a bit more time than spending on building a niche store. You will need to spend a few hours a day and you should research for what the proper topic you should write about and what brings you more money. There will be also a topic to cover this here. And even how a niche blog and a niche store to combine together to bring in more money – some could achieve a lucrative of more than USD $3,000 a month.

4. Build a popular blog – If you’ve been an Internet savvy guy, this category shall fit you well. And if you have been participating with lots of online activities, having tons of online friends, to build a popular blog that will eventually bring in more than 5K daily unique visitors will not be a problem for you. If you have enough saving, or you’re supported by your loved one, you could probably quit your job and become a full-time blogger who eventually makes a monthly 5-figure USD income. There are many success stories such as JohnChow.com (John Chow), Problogger.net (Daren Rowse) etc, who have been making more than 5-figure USD monthly income from online advertisement and affiliate networks.

An of course, there are many other ways that you can make money online. But these four ways could be the simplest ways, without needing you to have too much technical and rocket-science knowledge and they shall meet most what ordinary people’s situations are today.
